Sauvignon Blanc
Stefano Lubiana Sauvignon Blanc
In the last few years, we have taken our Sauvignon Blanc back to the drawing board and have tailored it to appeal to the more mature wine palate. Many consumers are now ready to let go of, or willing to trade, the tropical gooseberry, and passionfruit overtones for a more flinty, lightly oaked, chalky, earthy Sauvignon blanc featuring more elegant and balanced fruit structure. Our biodynamic Sauvignon Blanc is a fume style.

Laurel Bank Sauvigon Blanc
Hand harvested; around 10% received barrel fermentation, later blended back. This has given the wine texture and length, without detracting from what is a classic pure-fruit style.
Highly aromatic nose, the hallmark Laurel Bank citrus aromas are present, along with tropicals, gooseberries and lychees. Attractive palate, well-rounded with tropical fruit characters, lychees, melon and grapefruit. Intense and long. Balanced and supported by refreshing acidity.

Riesling
Pressing Matters R9 Riesling
Our most popular Riesling style and perhaps the most conventional; this is what is usually expected with a dry Riesling. The residual sugar, although only 9 grams, is enough to broaden the wine on the palate and the acidic lemon and lime found in the R0 give way to the sweeter versions of the fruit. There are usually hints of peach and grapefruit as well. The lovely floral nose remains and the extra residual sugar gives the wine a balance that softens the acid found in the R0. The R9 matches well with seafood and meats such as turkey or chicken.

Freycinet Riesling
The Tasmanian climate is ideal for producing fine elegant Rieslings with beautiful varietal definition. The aroma of fresh flowers with a hint of lime leap out of the glass. The elegant palate reveals rippling, juicy citrus flavours reminiscent of ripe lemons and limes combining with a crisp long taut after-taste.

Delamere Chardonnay
The 2019 season here at Delamere will go down on record as so close to perfection it will be hard to beat. Overall it was Tasmania’s second warmest season on record (an advantage straight out of the blocks in a cold, marginal-climate wine region like Pipers River!). In contrast to record warm temperatures in December and January, February saw a cool change. This allowed fantastic retention of acidity in the fruit. We had below average rainfall throughout the season, which meant disease pressure was non-existent, allowing us to take our time as the fruit ripened, and harvest only as it reached perfection. Crop levels were just below forecast giving us excellent depth of flavour. Coupled with near-perfect balance and racy acidity, a winemaker couldn’t ask for better material. Making wines from this year’s fruit has been an absolute privilege.

Nocton Merlot
All the exuberance of youth with the cranberry and redcurrant juiciness which so often shows in this wine when it is first released overlaid with some fresh green herbs and just a touch of Szechuan pepper. With a little air, it deepens and intensifies giving some clues as to how it will develop over the next few years.

Freycinet Cabernet Merlot
Fully ripened 73 % Cabernet Sauvignon, 8% Cabernet Franc and 19% Merlot has produced a full bodied style with plenty of cool climate charm and elegance. The enticing aroma reveals a mixture of black currant and berry fruits with herbs, olives and cedar perfume. The vibrant palate is firm but elegant featuring liqueur cherries and plum fruits with some sweet oak/cedar characters derived from 18 months maturation in French oak casks. The finish is long and savoury, driven by trademark Cabernet tannins. Decanting and allowing the wine to breathe is recommended to bring out extra nuances of flavour and complexity. Beautiful cigar box perfume and smoothness will develop with cellaring over 10 to 20 years in a good cellar.
