Wineglass Bay Sauvignon Blanc

EXUBERANT, REFRESHING, LIVELY , DELICIOUS GOOSEBERRY/PASSIONFRUIT AROMAS & FLAVOURS!

This wine was produced from 15 year old vines on our recently acquired neighbouring property, and it is a wonderful addition to our family of wines.

Our aim was to showcase the fruit purity of Wineglass Bay Sauvignon Blanc which is often described as reminiscent of Gooseberries, passionfruit and Lychees. We achieved this by harvesting very ripe fruit and slowly fermenting the settled juice in a temperature controlled tank.

Another aim was to provide some extra interest, by way of barrel fermenting 25% of the juice in 5 to 6 year old French Oak barriques. This does not make the wine obviously oaky, but does impart some barrel ferment texture and subtle complexity.

The result is quite a exuberant and lively wine with vibrant gooseberries, passionfruit and various other tropical fruits abounding. Similar flavours run through an elegant, harmonious, refreshing and subtly complex, crisp palate.  It’s thoroughly enjoyable as a young wine for any occasion, but is also suitable for short term cellaring.

It is the perfect Summer wine to refresh and quench a thirst on a hot day or to partner a wide variety of light Summery foods – especially seafood! Other great matches can be made with creamy Italian veal dishes , Asian stir fries & dumplings , salads  and a wide variety of chicken dishes. Let your imagination run wild!
